Samantha would be described as prideful, independent with a colourful vocabulary, loyal to her Gremlin culture and ways.
A caring and protective guardian to Gerry, however her impatient nature has often left Gerry in trouble but she is always quick to get him out of it.
Has never “unnecessarily” hurt someone. (it depends on your view of the word “unnecessary“ unfortunately )
Rash in decision making, but never makes the same mistake twice (a gremlin who makes the same mistake twice is a dead gremlin). She fairly impatient and not a good handler of her Vermounts, strong willed and confident in herself but becomes easily angered if made a fool of or made to feel weak because of her size.
Has a strong sense of family and the importance of clan. She was devastated when she learnt she could no longer live with her hundreds of brothers and sisters. Gremlins live very closely to one another, and it isn’t odd to find over 20 of them sleeping in a tiny crack in the wall. Sam has never let the crippling loneliness show, as it would hurt her pride.
Before finding Gerry, Samantha often buried her troubles in drink, her drinking habits have lessened since then but a bad day will get her back on the thimble.
Samantha doe not have a fear of small spaces, only of crowds. Being near a crown makes her nervous and uneasy, being in the middle causes her to have a panic attack. During these she gets dizzy, unable to breath and often makes her faint.
Raised as a versifier, She is skilled in story-telling and poem recital however when she left her clan, she hasn’t had the heart to recite any of her clan’s old stories. She is also skilled in the Glem Harp (Similar to an ancients Irish harp, as seen here: [link] except much smaller ) But it’s been buried deep in her belongings for such a long time, she’s not even sure she can play it anymore.
Despite her destructive behaviour she is also resourceful and knows when to use this trait well, which is often to cheat unfortunately. Well she is one 10cm high, she got to put in her favour somehow. She’ll be more than likely using all of the Gremlin’s tricks and cheats to get far in Rise.



-Gremlin facts, History and Traditions-

-An old saying about gremlins is, “There is never. Just. One. Ever.”

-Gremlin’s believe their ancestors wondered out of the After Life, their true home, travelled so far and so spread out that they couldn’t find their way back. It is believed that when a Gremlin dies, he/she must be surrounded by their clan because deep in every gremlin’s memory there is a map back home to the after life.
For the above reason, The punishment of being made Ridder is so severe, not only because a lone Gremlin isn’t likely to live long on their own but because a Gremlin which dies alone will be unable to return to the afterlife.

-A clan of Gremlin could easily have over a thousand members through different ages, these clan are often split in their thousands throughout a single galaxy. They have conquered the universes by their method of nomadic life and infiltrating space-ships and rockets, there are only a handful of planets left which do not have a gremlin clan.

-Gremlin can to adapt to almost any type of atmosphere.

-One of the oldest recordings of Gremlin activity was during WW1 on the planet Earth. The Royal Navy found that certain things kept going wrong with the equipment. The specie was giving their official name when the RAF pilot Le Bouget announced “Gremlins sur la Manche” (Gremlins over the channel) before this, spirits or boggarts were often blamed for a Gremlin’s mischief.

-Gremlins can carry three-times their own weight.

-Their claws and feet are designed to be able to rip and tear into things, especially machinery.

-Each and every Gremlin has the deepest desire to explore and destroy technology . They are the stuff of a robot's nightmares.

-On most planets gremlins are often seen as vermin and pest because of their destructive behaviour towards machinery, their tendency to get everywhere and steal what they wish, however Gremlins have a rich and ancient culture, traditions and beliefs.

-Gremlins are dominated by the females, where one single female would lead her clan. A Female born with a “mane” (this means when a strip of fur is down along there back straight down to their tail) often become clan leaders as it is a sign of strength and confidence.

-Gremlins are compulsive collectors and often horde whatever they find and leave it in what become know as a “Grem Chest“. This could be inside an old tree, underneath someone’s floorboards or even underground. The same Gremlin may not even return to this Grem Chest but another one of it’s clan might.

-No one knows why, and they’re not telling, Gremlin steal and love to eat socks, especially the left one.

-Gremlins, while in most case friendly towards them, are taught at a young age not to trust “Biggers” or consider them friends.

-Gremlins can’t swim.

-Each Gremlin Clan has their own mark or insignia which is on the left shoulder. These tattoo are actually scars and are permanent.

-Gremlins aren’t strangers to a good el’ brawl (And don’t they love ‘em!) but tradition dictates that during an official fight, a Gremlin must fight without the “burden of cloth” basically, they fight naked. No worries of course! They’re so fuzzy ya can’t see anything.

-As Clan leaders are always female, they are often called "Big Má" (the proper term would be Gleesh) the Gleeshes mate is often called "Little Áth" (Proper term would be Gleck)



*Gremlin Terminology and slang - mixture of Irish/Scottish and made-up slang*

*Going Home- This is a term meaning to die. Gremlins never use the word “home” in any other context.

*Dingy- to ignore
“Now you just dingy him, alright? He’s a scutterin’ gobshite anyway.”

*Scutterin’ Gobshite -A person who runs off at the mouth, and is completely full of shit.


*Wheesh’d - Means “shush!” or “shut up!” usually said in a hurry or urgency.


*Scaffbag- One who is of questionable cleanliness
“Would ya look at that yoke over there! She’s a right scaffbag if I ever saw one.”

*Yoke- Word used instead of person.

*Bigger (s)- This is a Gremlin term used for “Abnormal” sized specie of alien.
Example: Humans or Greys
“Those Biggers have better watch where they step!”


*“Wonderer”- The name given to a Gremlin who has willingly left their clan

*“Ridder”- The name given to a Gremlin who was abandoned or exiled by their clan

*“Slán” - Word for Goodbye, adapted from the Irish language
Pronounced as “slawn” rythms with Lawn

*“Craic”- Word for fun or good times
“This place is great Craic!”

*Kit- Term for children of any type and specie
“Ah leave ‘em, they’re only kits”

*Gre- Proper term for a young gremlin under ten.


*Sha’- Slang used for young females, usually in teenage year, before a female has her first Gre

*Sheen- Slang for an adult female Gremlin who has no mate or Gres. This is meant as an insult.

*Eijit- Slang for idiot
“You are possibly the BIGGEST Eijit I’ve ever met!!”


*Clad- Gremlin slang for a Coward
Pronouced as “Cl-add” ryms with “Glad”
“You damn clad!!” or “Stop being such a clad”


*Choob- more slang for idiot, usually referring to children.

*Máhair: Gremlin Word for mother, often shortened to just “Ma”

*Athair: Gremlin word for Father, often shortened to just “Ath”

*Ate up.- A term used for someone for is odd in the head or crazy.
“Don’t worry about him, he’s just a bit ate up”

*To Get Spun- Meaning to get very drunk or intoxicated
“NaC! My head! I shouldn’t have Gottn’t so spun up last night.

*“NaC!” a cry of pain/despair/impatience among Gremlins. Often said as “Oh NaC” or “Ah NaC”
MB: NaC must always be spelt with a capital “C”. No one sure why but Gremlins notice if it isn’t there.
